The Village of Howard Parks Department has begun development of one of the communities newest park areas, Mills Center Park. The park is located in the western portion of the village and can be accessed by turning on Gaibrelles Gate from Shawano Avenue and then taking a left onto Spencers Crossing. Look for the park entrance on the left.
The park is open from sunrise until sunset and has an open air shelter, parking area, portable toilet facility, accessible gravel trail loop, and natural trails on the northwest side of the park. There is also an eagle monument near the shelter that is dedicated in the memory of CPL Justin Ross, a local resident who lost his life in Afghanistan. In addition, the trail head for the CPL Justin Ross Memorial Trail begins at the monument. The Village of Howard would like to thank the Ross family for their generous contribution and donations that helped in the development of the park.
Recreational opportunities at Mills Center Park include hiking, biking, picnicking, wildlife viewing, and an area for open play. Future plans include the construction of a children's playground, a flagpole, landscaping, and additional trails connecting to area neighborhoods.
