The Village of Howard has an award winning paid-on-call fire department, which utilizes a full-time Fire Chief, Ed Janke, and Assistant Fire Chief, Ann Watzka, with an authorized strength of 50 paid-on-call firefighters.
The village also provides medical first responders for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) incidents. These responders are dispatched with the contracted private ambulance company. All three public safety branches can be reached in time of emergency by calling 911.
