Community Development

Responsibilities

The Community Development Department aligns several traditional functions of village government under a single umbrella. Those functions include planning, building inspection, code enforcement, leisure services, and local economic development. The creation of the Community Development Department was largely in response to the village's growth in the past decade.

The Village of Howard has become one of the fastest growing areas in the State of Wisconsin.  The Wisconsin Department of Administration estimates Howard's 2023 population at 21,403.  Howard is now the third largest community in Brown County, trailing only the City of Green Bay and the City of De Pere.

Transportation Infrastructure

With over 22 square miles of area and immediate access to Interstate 43, US Highway 41, and State Highway 29, the village is primed for growth in the coming years. In addition to highway access, the village also has direct rail access and is within five miles of Austin Straubel International Airport.

Business Opportunities

The village has land for sale in the Lancaster Creek Business Park and the Brookfield Industrial Park.
